Tracking the Bears of India

Did you know that India holds the distinction of having the highest diversity of wildcats in the world? While the Indian Subcontinent may not immediately come to mind when thinking about wildcats, it is home to an impressive array of 15 different wildcat species. Surprisingly, this exceeds the number found in the entire continent of Africa, which is home to 10 species. Among these Indian wildcats, the Rusty-spotted Cat stands out as particularly special. Not only is it endemic to the subcontinent, but it also holds the distinction of being one of the world's smallest wildcats.
