Who is hosting?
The Suri family plays an active role in the management of Neeralaya and strives to provide an authentic experience of their region of the Kullu Valley. The property's every aspect reflects their passion for showcasing the local culture.
The head of the family, Mr. Suri, is a skilled horticulturist who meticulously selected and planted tree saplings to create the stunning orchards on the Neeralaya premises. Mrs. Suri, on the other hand, is an expert in making delicious jams and chutneys and her amiable personality adds a delightful touch to each preserve she creates. Muneer and his wife, Manisha, are hospitable hosts who take great care in getting to know each guest and personalizing their immersion into the local area by recommending sightseeing routes, treks, and adventure activities such as rafting and paragliding.
Aesthetics & Philosophy
Neeralaya, affectionately known as the "house by the river," was established by Muneer Suri with the intention of showcasing the area where he grew up. He acquired land from various individuals and planted fruit trees such as plum, walnut, apple, peaches, crab apple, and berries to create a four-acre orchard, where guest rooms are nestled in the midst of natural alcoves and breathtaking scenic views.
Adhering to the natural flow of things, Neeralaya was constructed using the traditional technique of timber bonded architecture prevalent in the Western Himalayas. The villas were built using reclaimed timber from old houses in and around Raison village, along with stone and slate. Some of the villas also have balconies that provide access to private gardens. Each room is situated in a spacious area surrounded by fruit trees, forests, and the soothing sounds of the nearby river.
Accommodation
Neeralaya offers a range of accommodation options, including 2 Two Bed room Villas, 4 Deluxe Suites, 2 Junior Suites, and One Super Deluxe Suite. All the rooms are furnished with comfortable beds, ensuite bathrooms with modern amenities, and indoor or outdoor seating areas. Some rooms come with fireplaces and balconies, and each room offers privacy with its own patch of greenery. The rooms can accommodate 2-3 people with an extra bed, and the furnishings in green and brown complement the stone and woodwork.
Food is a highlight at Neeralaya, with fresh home-made jams and chutneys accompanying every meal. Organic vegetables and poultry are grown and raised on the property, and guests can enjoy a variety of dishes ranging from local Kullvi, Punjabi, Tibetan, Indian, Chinese, and Continental cuisine. While there are set menus, the chef and hosts tailor the meals to guests' preferences and accommodate special occasions with bespoke menus and candlelit settings. Dining options include the Dining Room, gazebo overlooking the river, and alfresco picnics within the grounds.
Neeralaya is a great escape for nature and bird lovers, family gatherings, small celebrations, and active and adventure travelers. The property is open throughout the year, and guests can enjoy quiet spots for reading, writing, yoga, or meditation. Children and adults of all ages can partake in in-house activities such as board games and outdoor games in the garden. Guests can also learn to cook or make jams with the help of the friendly ladies of the house.
